Features and Enhancements in HyWorks v3.6-SP2

This release notes section highlights the new features and improvements introduced in HyWorks v3.6-SP2.

HyWorks Enhancements and Features

Capacity Plan Support for Personal Desktops

The latest release of HyWorks v3.6-SP2 has feature integration of dynamic provisioning and power management of single-session desktops. In previous versions, the feature was supported only with shared hosted desktops, and in this release, it was extended to single-session desktops.

Modules Required:

  • HyWorks Controller, Action Processor, Scheduler, VM Scale Booster, Windows DVM Tools.

How to enable:

  • Create a desktop pool with the Desktop creation type set to "Provision On Demand as Per Capacity Plan".

  • Create an associated capacity plan that clearly defines the time and number of desktops to be provisioned or kept powered on. Accordingly, VMs will be managed.

Supported Connectors:

  • Nutanix, MS Azure, VMware, Proxmox, AWS

HyWorks DVM Tools for Windows

HyWorks DVM Tools has the following changes in this release:

  • Integrated Modules:

    • HyWorks Desktop Agent: v3.6.0.1357

    • Session Server Extensions: v3.6.0.84

    • Accops User Experience Manager: v3.6.0.445

    • Built-in (Eltima) USB Redirection Driver: v11.0.2724.0

    • Diagnostic Tools: v3.4.0.21

    • AVCam: v3.6.0.6

    • Network Drivers (For network monitoring and VIP): v3.6.0.24

  • Feature# 1: Max Uptime is being sent to the HyWorks Controller to evaluate shutdown/restart options based on the defined settings. This is part of the Single-session capacity planning feature.

  • Feature# 2: Graceful shutdown by Accops HyWorks DVM agent to avoid profile corruption issues. HyWorks Controller sends details to the agent, and the agent initiates the shutdown for non-persistent desktops on user logout or other events.

  • Enhancement# 1: Optimization of the request redirection module to reduce the time taken, improving biometric redirection performance. This will need a compatible client extension 3.6.0.84 or later. Please follow the workspace client releases for this.

  • Enhancement# 2: Logs to list out features that will not work if the agent does not receive an intimation call from the HyWorks Controller for any reason. Ease of troubleshooting.

HyWorks Session Host Server for Windows

HyWorks Session Host Server is having the following changes in this release:

    • HyWorks Session Host: v3.6.0.157

    • DVM Tools: v3.6.0.1357

    • Session Server Extensions: v3.6.0.84

    • Accops User Experience Manager: v3.6.0.445

    • Built-in (Eltima) USB Redirection Driver: v11.0.2724.0

    • Diagnostic Tools: v3.4.0.21

    • Accops HyShell: v3.6.0.15

  • Feature# 1: Support for Desktop Policies via Policy Engine: Support has been added as per changes in HyWorks Controller design to use Policy Engine.

Deprecated Features (HyWorks Controller)

Device-based desktop pools

The option to create desktop pools with the Device-based Entitlement type is now disabled. This will be completely removed in the upcoming release.
