HyWorks Controller Changes

The HyWorks Controller is a versatile product with multiple configurations for user - and device-specific settings to support various features. These settings can be enabled or disabled to enhance session performance.

Connection Profiles

Connection Profiles are powerful configurations that can be used to customize the overall remote session performance.

As such, it is important to use appropriate connection profiles according to the capabilities of the client/server systems and deployment needs.

The HyWorks Controller provides system-defined connection profile templates that can be used in specific environments to optimize performance and ensure stable remote sessions.

For example, RDP10 For Low/Good Bandwidth Profile: Recommended connection profile for Windows 10 or Windows Server 2k16 connected from HY4k/HY5k or Ubuntu Client with RDP10.

CONNECTION PROFILE TO PLAY VIDEOS IN RDP8

Prerequisite:

  • RDP8.0 is enabled on the device.

  • RDP 8.0 installed and enabled on the DVMs: Refer to this section.

  • Video Memory specified in the VM settings in VMware: Refer to this section.

Connection Profile Configurations to Support Videos: To support videos in a remote session with the best performance, the Administrator can create a new connection profile or update an existing connection profile with the below configurations.

  1. Experience -- Custom

    1. Visual Styles

    2. Font Smoothing

    3. Persistent Bit Map Caching

  2. Display Configuration

    1. Color -- 16 Bit

  3. Local Resources

    1. Check Enable Audio

      i. Quality -- Dynamic

    2. Check Microphone

    3. Uncheck Enable Video Redirection

    Note: If RDP 8 video redirection results in degraded video performance, it is recommended that you leave it unchecked.

  4. Advanced Options

    1. Check Enable Graphics Accelerations

    Note: This option improves the video playback quality significantly; therefore, it must be checked while running videos.

  5. The remainder of the options can be kept as the default options.

  6. Save the connection profile and assign it to the HyDesk devices.
