Cluster License
When configuring HyWorks controllers in a cluster, the license must be activated on all the servers. The process for activating the license differs for management nodes and session nodes.
This section provides detailed information about the process for activating the license.
Applying License on Management Nodes
When HyWorks Controllers are configured in a two-node active-passive cluster, the same license can be activated on both management nodes to enable these HyWorks Controllers to support the same number of devices without incurring an additional licensing cost.
Follow the steps below to activate the management nodes license of the HyWorks controller cluster:
-
Activate a License on the Primary Controller Server: One server should be configured as the primary server and should be activated first. Refer to the License Activation on the HyWorks Controller section for activation steps.
Note
- Do not select the Join Cluster License on the primary HyWorks controller.
-
To Activate the License on the Secondary Controller Server
-
Navigate to Settings > System > Licensing.
-
Click the Show New License Activation option.
-
Enter the login credentials and the Serial Key.
-
Enter all the appropriate details in the License Activation section (provide the same information used when activating the license on the first HyWorks Controller).
-
Follow the steps mentioned in the License Activation on the HyWorks Controller section.
-
Password
-
Serial Key
-
-
Select the Join Cluster License checkbox.
-
-
The rest of the license activation process is the same as the one specified in the License Activation on HyWorks Controller section (either of the license activation methods i.e. Online or Offline activation can be used to activate the cluster license on the secondary HyWorks Controller).
-
The same license will get activated on the secondary HyWorks Controller.
-
The License Management section and dashboard of the secondary HyWorks Controller will start displaying the details of the new license.
Note
- The above mention method can also be used for management nodes of multi-node clusters. However, for the session node, a different license activation method has to be followed, as specified in the next section.
Applying License on Session Nodes
It is not recommended to install the HyWorks management console on the session nodes. But this also requires providing an alternate method to activate licenses of session nodes.
The following method can be used to activate the license on session nodes:
- Connect with the Accops support team and get the HyWorks License Activation tool.
- Copy the complete folder of the HyWorks License Activation tool on the HyWorks controller session node.
- Navigate inside the HyWorks License Activation folder.
- Right-click on the License Offline utility.
- Once executed successfully, it will display the HyWorks License Activation window with the following details:
- Hardware Key: This is a piece of Read-only information.
- Username: Displays the username to which the license has been issued.
- Password: Displays the Password of the user.
- License Key: This is provided by Accops to the organization/user.
- Service Version: 0330 (Default).
- Copy the Hardware Key from the above wizard and share it with the support person coordinating license activation.
- The Support person should provide the license file with encrypted information sometime.
- Connect to HyWorks session node using remote or console.
- Navigate to the License server folder (Default location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Accops\HyWorks\HyWorksLicenseServer).
- Create a folder with the name cert (if it does not exist). Please note the folder name is case sensitive and should be in all small as mentioned.
- Paste the certificate file (collected in step# 7) inside the cert folder.
- Open Services and restart the following services:
- Accops HyWorks License Service
- Accops HyWorks Controller Service
- The license is now activated on the session node.
- Follow the same process for all session nodes in the cluster to activate the license.
Note
- HyWorks management nodes do not display licensing information of session nodes and thus, it is important to activate license on session nodes proactively to avoid any downtime.
