SMTP Configuration

The HyWorks Controller’s SMTP server must be configured to send email alerts, such as backup notifications, to the specified email addresses.

The SMTP configuration in the HyWorks Controller necessitates the controller to establish a connection with the SMTP server; without this connection, emails cannot be sent.

Configure SMTP server

  1. Go to Settings > System > SMTP Config.

  2. SMTP Server: Specify the hostname or IP address of the SMTP Server.

  3. Connection Type: Select the connection method between the SMTP client and server from None StartTLS, SSL/TLS.

  4. SMTP Port: Specify a port on which the SMTP server will be connected.

  5. Enable SMTP Authentication: Select if the authentication is required before emailing.

  6. SMTP Username, SMTP Password, Confirm Password: Specify the user name to be used to send emails in username@domain.com format and the password for the user.

  7. SMTP Email Sender: Specify the sender’s email address in the format as username@domain.com.

  8. Test email address: Specify the email address to whom the test email should be sent.

  9. Click Send Test Mail to send a test email.

  10. Click Save to save the SMTP configuration.

Once the SMTP configuration is done successfully, HyWorks can use these settings to send e-mail notifications to the configured Administrators.

Currently, HyWorks supports e-mail notifications for the following configurations:

  1. HyWorks Controller backup: Administrators can schedule a periodic backup and receive the Controller backup file via email notifications.

  2. RMS (now HyLabs) reservation notifications.

Reset Configuration

Click Reset if you need to reset the SMTP server configuration. This will remove all saved settings.
