Prepare Proxmox VE
For smooth integration of the Proxmox platform with the HyWorks Controller, use the guidance given below:
Supported HyWorks Versions
- HyWorks v3.6 or later.
Supported Proxmox Versions
Provider | Supported Versions |
---|---|
Proxmox | 8.1.0 |
Pre-requisites
Important Ports
- 8006 is used to connect to Proxmox servers.
Cluster Configuration Important
Only one of the Proxmox servers from the cluster should be configured in HyWorks.
User Account Permissions
A user account with the required privileges for the Proxmox server is created. The user must have permission to read all VM information, create and delete resource pools and virtual machines, and create snapshots. The configured user must have the following permissions:
-
VM.Monitor, VM.Clone, VM.Snapshot, VM.Snapshot.Rollback, VM.Migrate
-
VM.Audit, VM.Console, VM.Backup, VM.PowerMgmt, VM.Allocate
-
VM.Config.Cloudinit, VM.Config.Options, VM.Config.Memory, VM.Config.CPU, VM.Config.CDROM, VM.Config.Disk, VM.Config.Network, VM.Config.HWType
-
Datastore.AllocateSpace, Datastore.Allocate
Important
If the configured user lacks sufficient privileges, retrieving desktop details, power operations, and provisioning may fail.
Gold Master/ DVMs Configurations
Hypervisor Tools:
Install Hypervisor tools on the VMs that will be delivered as desktops to end-users. Not having these tools installed may affect the functionalities, as guest agents are used to exchange information between the host and guest.
Follow the link Qemu-guest-agent for Proxmox-specific guest agent installation. For Linux and Windows, follow the respective sections.
