Alert Manager

Overview

The Alert Manager module is used to generate alerts when the Gateway resources cross a configured threshold value. The alerts can be generated for high CPU, RAM, HDD and Swap space usage. It can also send alerts related to high license utilization.

To figure out the state of the Alert Manager module and configure various settings related to it, follow the steps:

  1. Go to Management console and expand REPORTS AND ALERTS
  2. Click on Alert Manager sub-menu
  3. The Alert Manager page will get displayed representing the state of the Alert Manager module which can be toggled and the configuration settings of this module so that appropriate alerts can be generated.

STATUS

This block displays the current state of the Alert Manager module as "Running" or "Stopped" as appropriate. The state can be toggled by clicking on the button adjacent to the state.

CONFIGURATIONS

This block defines the settings for generating alerts whenever a resource crosses a configured threshold.

Global Settings

This block defines the core settings for the Alert Manager module. The resource and threshold related configuration is set under the Alert Settings. The settings are explained in the table below

# Setting Description
1 Alert Title Prefix The subject of email notifications starts with this prefix. The prefix can be used to identify the HySecure cluster identifier also
2 Data Sampling rate(secs)*
(Rate at which resource usage should be checked)
This indicates the frequency in seconds, at which each resource usage is checked.

Alert Settings

This block is used to define the resource and its threshold settings post which alerts can be sent out on the configured email to specified users. The different settings are explained in the table below

# Setting Description
1 Resource Type Select the resource which needs to be monitored and alert is to be generated on exceeding a configured threshold. Note that all the configuration values need to be set for each of the available resources. Thus, you can chose "CPU" as the Resource Type and configure whether alerts need to be enabled and if so, set the various configuration like threshold etc. Likewise, all configuration will need to be set for Resource Type, say "Disk"
2 Enable Check this option for each of the Resource Types for which alert need to be generated
3 Threshold Value (%) Specify the threshold value as a percentage of the total capacity for triggering the alert. This needs to be set for each of the Resource Type for which alert needs to be generated. For e.g. if threshold value is configured to 80% for Resource Type as "Disk", then whenever the disk usage exceeds 80% of the total capacity, an alert email as per subsequent configuration will get triggered.
4 Alert Rate (mins) This defines Time (in minutes) between consecutive alerts for a particular resource. Thus if a resource exceeds its threshold and continues to do so, then the alert will be generated after every configured number of Alert Rate in minutes
5 Urgency Level
6 Alert Title While sending email alert, text in this configuration will be used as alert subject.
Note: The Alert Title Prefix is prepended to this title.
7 Log Alerts in file If this option is enabled then the alert is logged in log file
8 Enable Email Alert Check this option if alerts are to be sent over an email
9 Send Alert to all Admin Users If this option is enabled then the alert email will go to all HySecure administrator users.
10 Send Alert to all Security Officers If this option is enabled then the alert email will go to all HySecure SO (Security Officer) users.
11 Send Alert to additional Users Send alert to additional email IDs which can be configured here
