HySecure Gateway State

Overview

The HySecure Gateway goes through 3 different states till it can start performing the desired operations. The three states are:

  1. Bootstrap State
  2. Configuration State
  3. Run State

Bootstrap State

HySecure goes into this state as soon as it is installed. This is also termed as System Configuration state (not to be confused with the Configuration State) as the Gateway can now be configured for its own setup or the system setup like Network setup, License setup, Certificate settings etc. In this state the first Security Officer should be created to proceed further.

Configuration State

In this state, the HySecure server is in configuration mode. Once bootstrap state is complete, the server automatically moves to the Configuration state. In this state, only Security Officers and the Administrators can login to the Gateway so that they can do appropriate configuration for the users and the systems as a whole to operate. This state is also used for performing maintenance activities or system wide changes.

Administrators can get the server from configuration state when the Gateway is fully operational, from management console.

Run State

In this state, the HySecure Gateway is fully functional. Once the activities in the Configuration state are completed, the Gateway needs to be specifically moved from the configuration state to run state so that the users can log in to the Gateway and access the applications published for them. To change from configuration state to run state, go to HySecure Gateway State page under HYSECURE STATUS in the Management Console and click on Run State.

Changing the HySecure Gateway State

  1. Open the management console, and expand HYSECURE STATUS

  2. Select HySecure Gateway State. The HySecure Gateway State screen appears.

  3. The current state of the Gateway is displayed here. Toggle the state from Configuration State to Run State or vice-versa, by clicking on the desired link. A success message confirms the Server State change.

    Note

    It may take a few seconds for the server state to change

  4. After changing the server state, you must logout and then login again to continue with the activities.
