Service Config
Configure HyWorks Controller's discovery settings and RDP proxy server setting from Service Config.
The Discovery setting defines the discovery mechanism of the HyWorks Controller by the HyWorks Clients while RDP Proxy Server in the HyWorks Controller provides the mechanism to connect to desktops or applications over the internet, where devices do not have direct access to desktops but can connect to the HyWorks Controller using it's public IP.
Discovery Settings
The Discovery setting defines the discovery mechanism of the HyWorks Controller by the HyWorks Clients. Though HyWorks Controller is automatically discoverable but it is also possible to manually configure the HyWorks Controller on devices manually by providing the appropriate IP/Hostname and Port information.
For detecting the HyWorks Controller automatically, the HyWorks Controller
broadcasts it's information on the network for port 39003.
HyWorks clients are constantly listening for the information broadcasted on port 39003. Once this broadcast is
received by the devices, the HyWorks client will start communicating with the HyWorks Controller.
This is an ideal deployment scenario, where the devices can communicate directly with HyWorks Controller and broadcasts are not blocked. However, in cases of 'connection over internet' or 'with firewall in between', the HyWorks Controller should be configured manually, since the broadcasting mechanism cannot be used.
Default Configuration
By default, the discovery settings are stopped and broadcasting is disabled. However, if needed, the Administrator can enable broadcasting.
Start Broadcasting
-
Go to Host Management > System > Service Configuration > Discovery Settings.
-
Click Start to start broadcasting. By default, the broadcasting is disabled in the HyWorks Controller.
The settings should be saved, and broadcasting by the Controller should start, as per the configurations.
Stop Broadcasting
If broadcasting is enabled, then it can be stopped using the same process used to start the broadcasting:
-
Go to Host Management > System > Service Configuration > Discovery Settings.
-
Click Stop.
The settings should be saved and broadcasting by the Controller broadcasting should be stopped, as per the configurations.
Edit Discovery settings
-
Go to Host Management > System > Service Configuration > Discovery Settings.
-
Click Edit to open the Edit Discovery Settings dialog and provide broadcasting interval in seconds.
-
Click Apply.
The new broadcasting interval should come into effect immediately.
RDP Proxy Server Settings
The RDP Proxy Server in the HyWorks Controller provides the mechanism to connect to desktops or applications over the internet, where devices do not have direct access to desktops but can connect to the HyWorks Controller using it's public IP address.
Stop/Start RDP Proxy Server
-
Go to Host Management > System > Service Configuration > RDP Proxy Server Settings.
-
Click Stop to stop the RDP Proxy Server. The proxy server will be stopped and sessions using the HyWorks Controller proxy will not stop. By default, the RDP Proxy Server starts with the HyWorks Controller.
Edit RDP Proxy Server Settings
-
Go to Host Management > System > Service Configuration > RDP Proxy Server Settings.
-
Click Edit to open the RDP Proxy Server Settings wizard
-
Provide RDP Proxy Server Port and VM RDP Port (if the VMs RDP Port is different than the current port)
-
Click Apply
RDP Proxy server will be stopped and should restart with the new configured settings
