Overview

The Advance Configuration sub-section within System contains critical system level configurations and should not be configured until advised by the Accops team.

All Advance Configurations are listed on the System -> Advance Configuration page. The following details will be available on the Advance Configuration page:

Viewing the List of Advance Configuration Grid

  • Name: Shows the name of the configuration

  • Value: Shows the current value of the configuration

  • Description: Provides a description of the configuration

  • Default Value Shows the default value of the configuration

  • Tags Displays the tags associated with the configuration for ease of search and tagging

UI actions are available for the Administrator for ease of administration

  • Group base filter control: This control is used to filter group wise configurations. Go to the Group page to show associated configurations.

  • Tag base filter control: This control is used to filter tag wise configurations. Click on the tag to show the associated configurations.

  • Search control: The Administrator can search for any specific configuration by providing the appropriate search string. Clearing the search will start displaying a list of all the settings again.

  • Column base search option: Column based search is available on the Name column, Description column, Tags column. To perform search operation on a particular column, select the checkbox of that column.

  • View unsaved configurations: Click on this option to see the unsaved setting(s) which are saved locally.

  • Edit: When you click on the Edit button, the configuration field/control gets enabled and shows the Save and the Cancel(Cross Icon) buttons.

  • Save: When the Save button is clicked, the modified configuration are saved locally. Multiple configurations can be saved locally at the same time oncethe Update button is clicked on to perform the update operation to apply configurations/settings.

  • Update: By default, the Update button is disabled. When any configuration is modified and saved, the Update button gets enabled to allow the update of the locally saved settings.

  • Reset: The Reset operation will cause a reset of the locally save configuration/settings and they will not be available to view any longer.

Defined Groups

Groups: A collection of configuration/settings. Default groups are created to act as a container of configurations.

Defined Tags

Tags are used for tagging configurations/settings and allowing them to be searched and filtered easily. The following are the default Advance Configuration tags:

  • Download Client, HyLabs, HyLabs Corporate, Timeout, Interval, DVM Push, Heartbeat, Interval, App Control, Logging, Control, Authentication Domain, Controller, High availability, Path, Reservation, EMAIL, Resource Management, Performance, Heartbeat, Refresh, RDP, Export CSV, HyLite, HyDesk, VIP, Retry

Examples of available configurations are as follows:

  1. Heartbeat Interval: The Configuration decides what should be the default heartbeat interval for registered endpoints. This should not be modified to have a very low value as it could affect the system performance.

  2. Log Remover Threshold: This is the maximum number of DB records to be kept in the HyWorks Controller. After reaching this1 log limit, the HyWorks Controller starts rotating the logs. The default value is 500000 currently.

Modifying Advance Configurations

To modify Advance Configurations, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Log in to the HyWorks Management Console using the Super-Administrator credentials (Advance Configurations are available to Super-Administrators only).

  2. Go to the System -- Advance Configuration section

  3. By default, all the configurations are shown in the disabled mode

  4. Click on the Edit button displayed against the field to be modified. For example, Heartbeat Interval

  5. Provide new configurations as per the instructions in the description column

  6. Click on the Save button to save the settings. Multiple configuration will be saved at the same time.

  7. Click on the Update button to update the settings.

Important Note:

- Multiple configurations can save at the same time and updated in bulk by clicking on the Update button which is located at top and bottom of the screen.

Warning!

- A few settings will require the HyWorks Controller Service to be
restarted. Please contact the Accops Support Team before modifying
    any of the Advance Configurations.

- All Advance Configurations can affect HyWorks functioning as
well HyWorks performance. They should not be modified
directly. The Accops Support team should be contacted for making
    Advance Configuration changes.

Example Configurations & Usage

This section will cover some examples of the configurations which can be used for important performance or functional aspects.\ It is important for these settings to be configured with the help of the Accops support team for best results and to avoid failures.

Configuration name: Heartbeat Interval

Default Value: 40

Usage: All endpoints use this interval to communicate with the HyWorks Controller.Any relevant configurations on the endpoints can be set using this heartbeat interval.

In large deployments with many desktop clients, the heartbeat interval can be increased to improve the performance overhead of processing heartbeats from many endpoints.

Note: Increasing the heartbeat interval causes longer gaps in communication with endpoints. Any settings changed on the Controller will take effect as per this configured interval.
