Management Console Layout Overview

The HyWorks Management Console provides a simple user interface to manage all the HyWorks configurations centrally. These configurations are available under various screens, and are described below:

Top Panel

The top panel of the Console provides access to:

  • Navigation Menu

  • Quick Access Toolbar

  • Option to configure preferred text size

  • Configure Dashboard Graph theme

  • Option to Switch Organization

  • View Logs

  • Details of the logged in user

Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access toolbar provides links to the most used sections, for example the User Sessions, App Sessions, VDI Sessions etc. Clicking on any of these options will navigate to the corresponding page.

Current Organization and the option to switch Organization

The top panel displays the organization that is selected at present and enables the Administrator to move to another organization.

Configure Preferred Text Size

Administrators can also choose their preferred text size from Small (11 px), Normal (12 px) and Large (13 px) for the Console.

Currently Logged-in User Details and Actions

The top panel also displays the details of the Administrator who is currently logged in.

The dropdown list, which is available next to the name of the Administrator name, provides option to:

  • View Logs

  • View Help

  • Change Password

  • Logout

Dashboard

On successful log in, the Administrator will be navigated to the Dashboard. Dashbaord displays a summary of the HyWorks configurations and deployments in an easy-to-read format for a quick analysis of the current system usage and status monitoring. The following information is available in the Dashboard:

  • System Usage: Sessions Information, Endpoints information, Information of the Desktop Virtual Machines, License Usage, Published Virtual Applications Information

  • Configurations: HyWorks Controller configuration and status, Shared Session Hosts, Authentication Servers, Dedicated Session Providers information

Monitoring

The Monitoring section in HyWorks provides the Administrator the ability to monitor and manage the following:

Sessions

Types of sessions that can be monitored and managed from the Sessions section:

  • User Sessions

  • App Sessions

  • VDI Sessionssessions

Endpoints

Manage all the registered endpoints. Endpoint management in HyWorks enables the Administrators to control every aspect of the endpoints, for example, the volume control, display management, policy controls etc.

Desktop VMs

Manage all the configured desktop VMs for:

  • Power Operations

  • Assign/Unassign desktops

  • Remove from pool

  • Refresh Desktop Agent status, Upgrade DVM Tools and download Desktop Agent logs

User Details

This screen lists all the registered users, shows assigned applications, desktops and connection policies. The available options are:

  • View details of the user

  • Delete a user

  • Export (export user details)

Announcements

This page contains the list of announcements for endpoints and provides the options to add, edit and delete announcements.

Configuration

Workspace

Workspace sections consist of the screens used for applications, desktop pools, connection profiles and organization configurations, which eventually end up defining the workspace of end-users.

  • Applications: The Applications section can be used for the following operations:

    • Add/Publish a new applications

    • Copy an existing application

    • View details of applications that are already added in Read-only mode

    • Modify added applications

    • Delete existing applications

    • Export (Export application details)

  • Desktop Pools: The Desktop Pools screen provides an interface for creating and managing pools of Desktops and associating the Desktops to intended clients. The following Management Operations are possible:

    • Add/Edit/Delete Dedicated Desktops' Pools

    • Add/Edit/Delete Shared Hosted Desktop Pools

    • Add to maintenance/Remove from maintenance

    • Export (export pool details)

  • Connection Profiles: Connection profiles define the session experience and connection properties for a desktop or an application; the following management operations can be performed through them:

    • Create new connection profiles

    • Modify existing connection profiles

    • Delete existing connection profiles

    • Copy

    • Reset Profile

  • Organizations: Administrators can have multiple sub-organizations in HyWorks to have logical separation of resources. They can have assigned clients and deliver several types of desktop pools and applications to the users in distinct organizations. The following actions are available in Organizations:

    • Create a new organization

    • Modify existing organization configurations

    • Delete newly created organizations

    • Expand (jump into sub-organizations)

Entitlements

The Entitlements section can be used to add/edit/delete application and connection profile entitlements for the organization. The following types of entitlements are possible:

  • Users

  • Groups

  • OUs

  • Desktop Pools

Server

The Server section in HyWorks consists of pages used for different types of server configurations. These different types of server configurations are listed below:

  • HyWorks Controller: The HyWorks Controller section in HyWorks enables the Administrator to perform the following configurations:

    • View the current HyWorks Controller Server and database details

    • Add HyWorks Controller to create cluster

    • Change HyWorks Controller server's mode

    • Delete HyWorks Controller Cluster Server

  • Authentication Servers: This section helps to manage authentication servers for HyWorks configuration. HyWorks supports Microsoft Active Directory, Novell eDirectory, OpenLDAP and Built-in (HyWorks database) as authentication and authorization servers. Administrator can do the following administrative tasks in the Authentication Server section:

    • Add authentication server

    • Modify authentication server configurations

    • Delete an existing authentication server

  • Session Teams: This section helps to manage Session Host Server teams. When Session Host Servers are added in a team, application and Shared Hosted Desktops delivery can be load balanced between member Session Host Servers. HyWorks supports Adaptive (live resource based), Weighted Round Robin and Weighted Least Connection load-balancing mechanisms. The Administrator can perform the following actions:

    • Add new session teams

    • Modify existing session team configurations

    • View/Upgrade and download logs of member Session Host Servers

    • Delete existing session teams

    • Export (export teams details)

    • Bar Icon for Managed Teams shows a chart of the Servers and Connections

  • Capacity Plan: This section helps to ready and manage SHD servers of teams as per the plan and saves costs in Azure Deployment. Based on the user's session load, various plans can be assigned to teams. Plans for weekday load and weekend load can be separate. Each team can be assigned multiple plans, based on their session usage pattern. The capacity plan supports only Azure Deployment. The Administrator can perform the following actions:

    • Add New Plan

    • Modify existing capacity plan

    • Delete capacity plan

  • Session Providers: All types of session providers which can be used to deliver application or desktop sessions to end-users are configured and managed from the Session Providers section. HyWorks supports three categories of session providers: Dedicated session providers (VMware vCenter Servers/ ESXi Servers and Microsoft SCVMM/ Hyper-V Servers, Nutanix, Azure, Physical PC), Shared Session Hosts (Microsoft RDS Servers/ Linux RDS Servers). The following administrative tasks can be done from the Session Providers section:

    • Add new session provider

    • Modify configurations of existing session provider

    • Delete existing session provider

    • PhysicalPC Template

    • Copy (only applicable on Shared Session Hosts)

User Management

The User Management section enables the Administrators to configure local users and groups in the HyWorks database. These users and groups can be used to authentication and authorize access to users. The Users and Groups subsections can help to manage users and groups respectively.

  • Users: This section can help in managing built-in users with the following actions:

    • Add new users

    • Modify existing users

    • Delete existing users

    • Import/Export users from/to CSV files

    • Sync Users

    • Download template CSV filers for user import

  • Groups:

    • Add new groups

    • Modify existing groups

    • Delete existing groups

Host Management

System

The System section in HyWorks helps with the majority of the system configurations. It consists of the following subsections:

  • License: This is a dedicated section for viewing, applying and updating licenses in HyWorks.

  • Backup and Restore: This section is used for configuring HyWorks scheduled backups or taking instant backups.

  • SMTP Config: This section helps in configuring the SMTP server for notifications and backups.

  • Virtual Profiles: This section helps in configuring virtual profiles to be used by the Session Host Servers.

  • Service Path: This section helps configure the service path for the HyWorks Controller service.

  • Service Config: This section helps in configuring the HyWorks Controller discovery service and proxy server configurations.

  • Advanced Config: Important server level configurations, to be used for performance tweaking in HyWorks are mentioned in this section. They are to be modified with the help of Accops Support Team.

  • Syslog Config: This section has information for configuring the syslog server in HyWorks for logs archiving.

Administration

The Administration section in HyWorks provides an interface to define access and delegated administration policies. The following three sub-sections are available within this section:

  • Permissions: Thsi section includes information for adding, removing or changing administrative permissions of the users.

  • Roles: This section has information about viewing the system defined roles and managing custom roles.

  • Client Groups: This section has information for managing client groups, which can be used to restrict the end-user access to desktops from the allowed list of endpoints only based on the MAC address, LAN IP or WAN IP rules.

Dedicated screen for viewing and downloading the HyWorks Controller logs.
