Overview

Connection Profiles are group of settings that control the user experience, resource redirection and remote session security settings especifically,

  1. Defining remote session performance, resource redirection, appearance configurations

  2. Remote Display Protocol security settings

  3. Additional parameter for Remote Display Protocol connection

  4. Session timeouts

Connection Profiles can control the behaviour of remote display connection from end user device to virtual application and desktops based on the different protocol version and feature support on the respective OS.

Connection Profiles can be managed from HyWorks Controller Management Console -- Workspace -- Connection Profile section.

Connection Profile Types

In HyWorks two types of profiles are available:

  • Default Profile: This is a system generated that can not be deleted but edited and is by default assigned to all the devices.

  • Admin Created Profiles: Removable and editable profiles. Admin can create a new profile by clicking Add in Connection Profiles.

Connection Profile Templates

HyWorks Controller v3.3 has set of predefined connection profile templates,
for different combination virtual session server and HyWorks client. HyWorks client and remote server can support different version of protocols like Microsoft RDP version 8 or RDP version 10. Different protocol version has different capabilities and the same can be controlled using Connection profile settings. Examples of such templates are:

  • RDP10 For Low/Good Bandwidth Profile: Recommended connection profile for Windows10 Windows Server 2k16 connected from HY4k/HY5k or Ubuntu Client with RDP10.

  • RDP10 to RDP8 With Low/Good Bandwidth Profile

  • RDP10 to RDP7 With Low/Good Bandwidth Profile

  • RDP10 With Linux VDI Profile

  • Default Profile

The template can be used to create a new connection profile and if connection profile is modified, then it can be reset.

View list of Connection Profiles

All the connection profiles are listed in Configuration > Workspace > Connection Profiles page. On navigating to Connection Profiles page following details can be seen:

  • Profile Name: Showing name of the connection profile. The name of connection profile is configurable and can be changed from connection profile dialog.

  • Description: Showing description of the connection profile. The description of connection profile is configurable and can be changed from connection profile dialog.

  • System Generated: This column indicating profile is generated from system template or not.

    -   Green color Right icon indicating profile generated from system and not yet modified.<br />
    -   Grey color Edit icon indicating system generated profile and has been modified.<br />
    -   Hyphen "-" indicating that profile is not system generated and it is a custom profile.
    
  • Default Profile: This column indicating profile is default or not.


Following UI actions are available for administrator for ease of administration:

  • Refresh: Re-fetching all information from HyWorks Controller service for added connection profile

  • Sorting: Clicking on column header can sort the connection profile. The feature is available on following columns: Profile Name, Description, System Generated.

    • Default Sorting: By default, profile will be sorted by Profile Name only which means all Profiles will be sorted alphabetically.
  • Search: Administrator can search any specific Profile, by providing appropriate search string. Clearing the search will start displaying list of Profiles again.

  • Footer Control:
    Goto Page: This control used to go to on particular page located on footer left side
    Page Info: Showing number of items per page out of total items located on footer middle side
    Pagination: It is pagination control located on footer right side.
