Setting Up Nodes

Set up the cluster nodes in the following order:

  1. Set up Active Load Balancer Node

  2. Set up Backup Load Balancer Node

  3. Set up Secure Gateway/Real Node

Steps for Node Setup

Any node setup needs to go through the following steps:

  1. Installation

  2. Network Configuration

  3. Preboot

  4. Configuring Access of First Security Officer

    1. Register First SO

    2. Enroll First SO

    3. Logging in as an SO

Set up Active Load Balancer Node

Please ensure that the Node Setup is configured if it has not already been completed.

Once the first SO has logged in:

  1. Log on to the Management console.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Cluster > Configuration.

  3. Click Set Install Type.

  4. Select the option "Create a new cluster" and provide Virtual IP, netmask and the Virtual Interface.

The role of this first node should be selected as "Active Load Balancer(also HySecure Gateway)"

    Note

    1. The Virtual IP must be an available (free) IP address on the network

    2. The Virtual Interface indicates the actual interface e.g. eth0 on which the virtual interface gets created with the virtual IP

  5. Configure the remaining cluster information by following the steps indicated in the Configuration section of High Availability.

Recommendation

While configuring the Active Load Balancer node, it is recommended to Configure NTP so that the time is synchronized between the Active Load Balancer node and the other nodes of the cluster. This avoids configuration data synchronization failures between nodes due to time lags between them.

Important

Details of the Backup Load Balancer node and additional Secure Gateway/Real nodes need to be added in the HySecure Servers section on the Configuration page before these are installed and configured.

This completes the creation of this node in the cluster.

Set up Backup Load Balancer Node

Please ensure that the Node Setup is configured if it has not already been completed.

Once the first SO has logged in, perform the following steps for each of the nodes that need to be configured to be a part of the cluster.

  1. Log on to the Management console.
  2. Go to Settings > Cluster > Configuration.

  3. Click Set Install Type.

  4. Select the option "Join node to cluster" and provide the Virtual IP, netmask, and the Virtual Interface of the cluster which was created while configuring the first node, i.e.,Active Load Balancer.

  5. Select the role of the node as Backup Load Balancer (also HySecure Gateway), if you need to have failover for load balancing activity besides expecting the node to act as a Gateway.

  6. To confirm whether the cluster configuration has been synchronized with this node, use the Configuration section of the High Availability page to see the synchronized information.

    Important

No configuration should be done for the cluster while you are connected to this node.

This completes the creation of a Backup Load Balancer node in the cluster.

Set up Secure Gateway or Real Node

Please ensure that the Node Setup is configured if it has not already been completed.

Once the first SO has logged in, perform the following steps for each of the nodes that need to be configured to be a part of the cluster.

  1. Log on to the Management console.
  2. Go to Settings > Cluster > Configuration.

  3. Click Set Install Type.

  4. Select the option "Join node to cluster" and provide the Virtual IP, netmask, and the Virtual Interface of the cluster which was created while configuring the first node, i.e.,Active Load Balancer.

  5. Select the role of the node as HySecure Gateway, if you do not expect the node to participate in the load balancing activity and expect it to act as a Gateway only.

  6. To confirm whether the cluster configuration has been synchronized with this node, use the Configuration section of the High Availability page to see the synchronized information.

    Important

No configuration should be done for the cluster while you are connected to this node.

This completes the creation of a Secure Gateway or the Real node in the cluster.

Note

HySecure on the cloud platforms uses the cloud as an Infrastructure and no specific cloud services are used. As a result, the procedure for cluster installation and deployment on the cloud remains the same as that for an On-premise installation/deployment.
