About HySecure License

Default License

On a fresh HySecure Gateway installation, a default license for 10 users is provided, valid for 30 days.

License Types

HySecure licenses are concurrent user licenses, determining the number of users who can simultaneously access the HySecure Gateway.

From the features perspective, there are two main types of concurrent licenses based on validity:

  1. Subscription License: This license is time-limited and includes an evaluation period. Once the license expires, users will no longer be able to access the HySecure Gateway.

  2. Perpetual License: A perpetual license has a lifetime validity. It allows an unlimited number of concurrent users within the limit specified by the license.

From the features perspective, there are two types of licenses:

  1. Named User License: This license is tied to specific users, such as:

    1. Any user who has logged in, has a profile created on HySecure, and appears in the User Profile list.
    2. User profiles that are disabled or blocked are not counted.

The following users are excluded from being counted under the Named User License:

    1. HySecure Admin, Security officer, Administrators, and monitoring users.
    2. Any user that is blocked on HySecure under the User profile tab.
  2. Concurrent User License: A Concurrent User License allows a specified number of users to access the HySecure Gateway at the same time.

Note

It is possible to switch from a Concurrent user license to a Named user license and vice versa.

Besides the Concurrent/Named User License, the HySecure Gateway also requires an additional license to support Endpoint Security functionality, as described below:

  1. Endpoint Security License: The Endpoint security license is needed when EPS needs to be enabled for the HySecure Domain. Enabling EPS allows to define the Endpoint Security Access Control policy on User/User Groups.

The validity of the Endpoint Security License is the same as the Concurrent/Named User license validity. However for the Endpoint Security to be available, it needs to be applied at least once.

Changing the License Type

  1. Synchronizing licenses across clusters takes a few minutes after the license is applied on any of the gateways.
  2. When applying for a Named User License, registered user profiles will be counted to decide the compliance to licenses. If the no. of user profiles is more than the applied Named User License, then the following actions shall be taken:

    • A set of user profiles is disabled such that the count of enabled user profiles matches the no. of named user licenses installed.
    • If the no. of licenses are downgraded in the running production, then the user profiles that have not been active will be disabled.
    • Security officer and administrator users are never disabled.
    • If the no. of concurrent users logged in is higher than the concurrent license installed, then the excess users are disconnected.

Note

License can be applied without changing the HySecure Gateway STATE to Configuration State.

HySecure License for Cluster

HySecure cluster uses a single license applied on the Primary HySecure Cluster Manager node.

The Primary Cluster Manager node shares the same license copy with all other nodes in the cluster.

When the Primary Cluster Manager node is not available, the Secondary Cluster Manager provides the license information to the other nodes in the cluster.
