Features and Enhancements in HyWorks v3.4-SP1 Hotfix3 Release

HyWorks Enhancements and Features

Integration of Microsoft Remote Assistance

In the previous version of HyWorks, there was no remote assistance feature available for personal desktops. In the latest release, Microsoft Remote Assistance has been integrated, making it accessible for Windows-based personal, shared hosted desktops, and application sessions.

  • Please note that this feature requires the use of the latest Windows client with MSRA support.

Administration Enhancements

Separating Personal and Shared Desktops page for Ease of Administration

To facilitate easier management of objects of the same type, separate pages for Personal (VDI > Desktops > Personal) and Shared Desktops (VDI > Desktops > Shared) are now available.

Grouping of Actions on Shared Desktops

Actions of the same type, such as power actions, are now grouped together for a more organized view. The following action groups are available:

  • Power Actions: Power on, Power off, Shutdown, Suspend, Resume, Restart

  • Actions: Move to version, Refresh, Remove from pool, Restore Desktop

  • Advanced: Upgrade agent (Linux), Nutanix Flow Categories, Import/Export

  • Diagnose: Download Logs, Troubleshoot, Fix Desktop, Set Communication IP Address

Pool Name Hyperlink on Pools Page

On the Pools page, the pool name is now hyperlinked. Clicking on it will directly navigate to the respective Desktops page with the applied filter for the specific pool name.

Configurable Columns on Shared Desktops Page

Users can now customize the columns displayed on the Shared Desktops page. The configurable columns include:

  • OS Type, Pool Name & Version

  • Pool Display Name, IP Address

  • FQDN, Pool Type, Gold Master

  • Snapshot Name, Customization Type

  • Status, Team name, Active, Power State, Server Status, Session Mode, Connectivity

  • DVM & SHD Agent Status

  • Monitor Service Status, Sessions, CPU(%)

  • RAM(%), DISK(%), Score, Weight)

Configuration to Hide Change Password Option on Client Side

Under Device Set and Device Settings > UI Control section, there is an option to enable or disable the Change Password feature. When enabled, devices will no longer show the Password Change option during registration or heartbeat.

  • Latest client with support for hiding "Change Password" control will be required.

Feature Integration to have Specific Permissions for Recompose, Revert to Version, Recreate

The release introduces new permissions to enable specific roles and users to perform recompose, revert to version, and recreate operations. This ensures that only authorized roles with explicit permissions can perform these actions. The following permissions are added:

  • DVM Recompose Pool

  • DVM Move to Version

  • DVM Fix Desktop

  • SHD Fix Desktop

  • SHD Move to Version

  • SHD Recompose Pool

Option to Deploy Fewer VMs Than The Capacity

For desktop pools with Creation type set as Provision all Desktops now and having some pending VMs due to deployment failure in earlier attempts, this feature allows the option to deploy fewer VMs than the original capacity.

Recompose Enhancements

  • The "Revert to version" feature has been renamed to "Move to version."

  • Admins can now change the roll-out type for recompose.

HyLabs

  • Improvements have been made to handle issues of self-study getting stuck. The associated desktop pool is now updated correctly, and automatic healing logic is applied to fix any stuck self-study instances. Logs with the tag [CheckCloningPoolStatus] will be generated to track the status update in the database.
