Ubuntu Linux Known Issues

Bug ID Description
69086 The readme file includes some options that are not applicable for general use and are kept for very specific use cases. Use the options provided in the documentation. For any specific use case, contact the Accops support team.
68931 In some cases, the terminal app does not launch in the remote session of Multi-session deployments without HyShell on Ubuntu v24, or in a Japanese Ubuntu v24 single-session deployment.
Workaround: If issues are observed, download the script to fix them from here.
Make sure to verify any corruption of the script due to transfer of files, provide appropriate execute permission, and execute: sudo ./fixterminal_ubuntu.sh.
68805/ 68782 Switching from Normal (non-HyShell) to Restricted (HyShell-enabled) Desktop mode and then back to Normal (non-HyShell), the following issues may occur:
1. Desktop configurations may continue to have some read-only behavior. -- Workaround: Administrators must manually delete all user Desktop folders from the NFS (Shared storage) server. This ensures that when a new session starts, the user gets proper read and write permissions on the Desktop.
2. Application symbolic link shortcuts for controller-published apps may be incorrectly retained on the desktop, even though HyShell mode is now disabled. -- Workaround: Administrator may try to clean up the desktops manually or create a script to be executed on connection to clean up the desktop shortcuts.
68673 On Ubuntu 24, an intermittent post-login delay (most often observed with low configurations, e.g., 2 vCPUs) may occur, showing a black screen for 10-12 seconds before the desktop becomes available. Administrators can try to configure the VMs more effectively based on user usage patterns.
68642 In a very rare scenario, single-session Ubuntu RDP connections failed intermittently with 'SCN001 - User environment for RDP connection is not ready' error. This has been observed only once and was also significantly longer in preparation time before failing.
68621 Screen flickering may occur during application launch when the XRDP UI Loader is enabled. Disabling the UI Loader avoids flickering but may cause a brief black screen before the application starts.
68259 An authentication prompt may appear when mounting local storage devices (USB drives, disks, or CD/DVDs) in personal desktop environments, as direct drive redirection.
Standard (non-admin) users cannot mount local devices due to a lack of sudo privileges. This does not affect network-based mounts (NFS, FUSE).
68258 In some cases, when launching Google Chrome, users may encounter a keyring authentication prompt. The gnome-keyring bug is specific to Ubuntu v24 and is known. Here is the link for reference: Ubuntu bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/2060575. Workaround: Apply the following steps after installing Chrome:
1. Open the file: /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome
2. Locate the line exec -a "$0" "$HERE/chrome" "$@" and update to exec -a "$0" "$HERE/chrome" --password-store=basic "$@". Adding the --password-store=basic flag prevents the keyring authentication prompt.
68185 Login issues may occur for users whose Active Directory username and display name differ when using UPN-based authentication, whether or not virtual smart card-based certificate login is enabled.
68005 In some cases, capacity plan notifications open in full screen at application launch, which can cause a poor user experience.
67584 There are no easy mechanisms for administrators to modify frame rate (FPS) or resolution in the Accops Virtual Camera. These settings are pre-optimized, and changes are not recommended unless validated by the Accops engineering team for the deployment environment.
67306 The Workspace client for macOS does not transmit client metadata (cuname, cuid, cos, ostype) to the Linux VDI, resulting in missing ARS logs. This issue will be addressed in the future MAC Client GA release.
66669/ 66404/ 57738 Built-in USB Redirection Issues:
1. Does not work over the internet.
2. Microphone redirection via the built-in USB redirector does not work.
3. On Ubuntu 24, USB devices may be intermittently detected in the built-in USB redirector (eveusb) console but remain inaccessible within the session.
4. Large file transfer has been found to fail with abrupt termination and an inaccessible US device. 5.0 File transfers from a Linux desktop session to a USB device may appear unresponsive, with the progress bar stuck at 100%, despite successful file transfer.
62898 The ability to apply a virtual IP address to a specific process is not supported in the current Linux v4.0 GA implementation.
59964 Virtual application delivery via SSO is not supported for RHEL Linux SHD sessions; only shared hosted desktop delivery is supported.
58852 The session is incorrectly marked as active even when the audio is kept on mute. This is a specific feature (to be enabled explicitly) to treat the session as active when the user is not doing anything but listening to audio files. Idle timeout behavior also varies by audio source.
56645 Cross-domain authentication is not supported for Linux desktops; users from the parent domain cannot log in to child-domain-joined machines using UPN and may encounter a "User does not exist" error.
47771 Process logs in Linux sessions may show zero Active Time and a missing Start Time for some applications, such as browsers, due to rapid process creation and termination. As a result, the kernel may intermittently fail to capture the required data accurately.
46673/ 43869/ 32594 The Linux operating system does not support numeric usernames, which can result in a "Something went wrong" error.
Workaround: Authenticate using the UPN format for numeric users.
46660 When using virtual smart card certificate-based login-enabled desktops, reconnecting to a session after a network interruption may fail with the error "User does not exist". In such cases, users may try to log out of the Accops Workspace Client and log in or reconnect.
46605 When the DVM agent version is not current, and the SSO Certificate Data and Intimation Call Type is set to 1, a log entry indicating the session establishment status for Linux desktops may not appear in the controller logs.
45723 Read-only desktop mode (HyShell-enabled, restricted) lacks intuitive user feedback and may lead to confusion when actions such as saving or modifying files are restricted.
31635 In HyShell (restricted desktop mode), the app_launcher directory is visible to end users when using the gedit application; however, users cannot modify its contents. Application-level restrictions for this behavior are not currently supported in the Linux packages.
27265 App Delivery: The Linux session host server supports application delivery only in Shell mode.
Recommendations: Though the Connection Profile > Access mode is overridden and Shell mode is always used, if an issue occurs and RemoteApp is set as the access mode, it should be changed to Shell mode.
27264 App Delivery: Only a single session per user per server is supported. Recommendation: Publish only a single application or only a shared hosted desktop pool from a Linux session host server. Neither applications nor shared hosted desktops nor multiple applications should be published.
24572 Linux-based DVM tools do not support automatic repair or replacement of the corrupted local database. The administrator has to replace the database to resolve the issue.
23335 The connection to the RHEL-based desktop fails when the dollar sign is the last character of the username.
22763 Although the Linux DVM agent is configured to send only Process monitoring logs to ARS/Syslog, it also incorrectly sends User session monitoring logs to ARS/Syslog.
21521 In HyPrep, at the time of joining the domain, if only the Alternate DNS is configured, or if both DNS entries are left empty, the Agent log displays an AD DNS bad packet error, and the domain cannot be joined.
20057 20033 App/desktop session status is not updated on the Controller and the session host when the session is disconnected due to SHD's network disconnection, even after SHD's network is restored.
20012 If the application session exists on the controller even after the user has logged out and the agent is down, the user has to re-log in to HyWorks.
19876 Instead of logging off, sessions are disconnected when 'Force user logoff' is configured in the session team on non-persistent session host servers.
19583 By default, HyPrep on Linux removes the network, recreates it, and obtains an IP address from DHCP, so even if a deployment uses a static IP for the Gold master, it may be preserved on the cloned VMs after provisioning and customization in Accops.
14576 Lag is observed when streaming video on a Linux VDI compared to Windows Remote Desktops.
14508 Intermittently, the built-in USB redirection driver enters an unreachable state, resulting in USB redirection failures on Linux Virtual desktops when the user logs in and out of the VDI multiple times.
Workaround: Reboot Linux Virtual Desktop.
14372 [LDAP]: The colon sign is not working with the LDAP user.
14367 [LDAP] * Asterisk character is not supported in username (mid and last position).
14366 [LDAP] User sync is failing when the username starts with '!'.
14343 [workgroup] The Display name is not updating in SHD for the Linux SHD desktop session.
14325 [Workgroup] The Application shortcut is not getting created on the desktop if the user has $ and `characters in their username.
12756 In the USB network gate, previous USB device entries are not getting removed, creating confusion for the end user.
5068 Linked Clones of Generation-2 Linux VMs on Hyper-V fail to boot due to the error "Virtual Machine Manager cannot locate the boot or system volume on virtual machine".
5062 Many fields (Owner, Organization Name, Locale, Key) in OS customization are not used with HyPrep on Linux desktops, but are present in HyWorks Controller Management Console.
5058 The working directory configuration in the application publishing wizard is not used for Linux-based virtual apps.
