Master Image Prerequisite for VDI Cloning

This article outlines the key prerequisites for the gold image. This will be used at the customer's place where the customer wants to clone from the master image. At that time, while creating the master image, this document can be used as a reference.

Important Prerequisites for Gold Master VM

Before importing a Gold Master VM into RMS, for effective and error-free usage of the Gold Master in RMS, the following prerequisites must be fulfilled:

Gold Master VM must not be a pre-cloned VM and must be a freshly installed OS.
Do not run Sysprep after installing the DVM tool on the Gold Master image.
The latest version of VMware Tools must be installed on the Gold Image.
The Gold Master image must not have a static IP configured.
The latest HyWorks DVM Tools must be installed on the Gold Master.
Windows Firewall is disabled, and NLA (Network Level Authentication)) is turned off.
Sleep/Display Off settings should be disabled.
1. Control Panel > Power Options
  1. Turn Off the display > Never
  2. Put the computer to sleep > Never
  3. Advanced Settings > Turn off hard disk after 0 (Never)
Audio and Video Redirection is enabled from group policies
1. Group Policy Location: Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Device and Resource Redirection
2. Group Policies to be Enabled:
  1. Allow audio and video playback redirection > Enabled
  2. Allow audio recording redirection > Enabled
  3. Limit audio playback quality > Enabled - Dynamic
Windows 10 Specific Configurations:
1. No additional installed widgets from the Microsoft App Store.
2. The following group policy configurations should be enabled and configured to set to Negotiate.
