Limitations of the Current macOS Client Release

Controller Compatibility

Workspace Client for macOS is supported only with HyWorks Controller version 3.2 and later. Registration with earlier controller versions is not supported. For compatibility with older controller versions, the macOS client must be installed in Legacy Mode.

Automated SSO Support (Windows App)

The Windows App does not provide native Single Sign-On (SSO) support. The client attempts automated sign-on; however, if the attempt fails, users must manually enter their credentials at session launch.

Note

This limitation applies only to the Windows App.

Multiple Remote Application Performance

When the selected protocol is Native/Legacy, application performance may degrade when multiple remote applications are launched simultaneously.

Audio, Microphone, and Webcam Support with Legacy Protocol

Remote audio is not supported with the Legacy Protocol for Remote Apps, SHD, or VDI sessions, even when enabled in the connection profile. Audio and microphone functionality are available only through the Windows App and Native Protocol.

File Redirection

File transfer is not supported on macOS clients because the required Session Server Extensions are unavailable.

USB Redirection

USB Redirection is not supported on the current macOS client, including both Built-in and Enhanced USB Redirection drivers.

Multi-Monitor Support

Multi-monitor session expansion is not supported with Legacy Protocols. This feature is supported only with Windows App sessions and the Native Protocol.

Session Server Extensions

The following Session Server Extension features are not supported on Workspace Client for macOS:

  • HyWorks File Transfer
  • HyWorks HyPrint PDF Printing

Connection Attributes

Some connection profile parameters are not supported and may cause session launch failures if configured incorrectly. Verify connection command-line parameters when troubleshooting connection issues.

Session Reconnection Across Different Endpoint Types

Cross-platform session reconnection is not supported. For example:

  • SHD or Remote App sessions launched from Windows or Linux Workspace Clients may not reconnect correctly from a macOS Workspace Client.
  • Similarly, sessions launched from macOS may not reconnect correctly from Windows or Linux Workspace Clients.

Native Protocol Support

The Native Protocol supports launching only SHD and VDI sessions.

Native Protocol Limitations

  • HyWorks Remote/Shell Apps are not supported.
  • Full-screen SHD/VDI sessions do not provide a minimize option.
  • If a launched SHD/VDI session is minimized, subsequent SHD/VDI sessions may also launch in a minimized state.
  • SHD/VDI session launch fails when Video Redirection is enabled in the connection profile.
