Supported Clients

These are the eight clients compared in this matrix, listed in the column order used on every matrix page. Each section summarises what is distinctive about a client and points to the rows worth reading before you deploy it. The matrix pages are authoritative; the notes below are a guide to them.

Workspace for Windows, Admin Install

Installs machine-wide to C:\Program Files (x86)\Accops and requires administrator rights. It supports silent installation; it is the only client that can create shortcuts from a parameterized gateway address, and its installer bundles the Microsoft VC++ 2019 redistributable. There is no 32-bit setup.

It is the most complete client, and the only one that can:

  • connect to a virtual machine console — see Delivery aspect: Console connect in Client functions and Enable Console in Connection profile policies;

  • use enhanced USB redirection and Redirect All USB ports;

  • use Accops Smart Clipboard and Accops Smart File Transfer, which are Windows-only throughout the matrix.

One gap is easy to miss: smart card redirection is No for this client but Yes for the on-demand build (Local resources). Check that row if smart card logon matters to you.

Workspace for Windows, on-demand

Installs per user to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Accops, so it needs no administrator rights — the usual choice for unmanaged or contractor endpoints. It can still be upgraded from the HyWorks Controller, through the non-admin upgrade path.

Functionally, it tracks the admin build closely, with these differences:

  • installation rows that assume an administrator are marked N/A rather than Yes or No, including silent installation;

  • no USB redirection of any kind, and no Manage attached USB devices in the UI;

  • no console connect and no Enable Console in a connection profile;

  • smart card redirection is supported here, unlike the admin build.

Workspace for macOS

Installs to /Applications and requires administrator rights. It does not support silent installation, and it does not register an uninstall entry with the operating system.

Many session settings are marked Yes with the qualifier Windows App Only, so read the note markers on Connection profile policies carefully rather than scanning for the word Yes alone.

macOS is the only client that offers:

  • protocol switching from the client UI;
  • Block snapshot for shell-hosted desktops and VDI, using the native protocol.

It has no USB redirection, no printer redirection, and no clipboard or file transfer plugins.

Workspace for Ubuntu 64-bit

Installs to /home/$USER/.edc, requires administrator rights and internet access during installation, and supports silent installation.

The Linux clients lead on graphics and endpoint management:

  • Enable Graphics Acceleration, Progressive GFX, H.264 codec, and software or hardware rendering — all Linux-only — see Advanced setting;

  • PC-over-IP (PCoIP) as a session launcher option;

  • touch screen calibration, device power operations, and remote control over SSH for diagnostics, from Client functions;

  • remote shell with or without a password, from Device settings.

USB redirection is available over the network only; there is no built-in USB redirection on the 64-bit build.

Workspace for Ubuntu 32-bit

The same client on 32-bit Ubuntu, and the only client with a 32-bit installer. It matches the 64-bit build and also supports built-in USB redirection, the None USB option, and network redirection.

Accops Workspace for Android

This is a store-delivered mobile app, so every installation, upgrade, and uninstall row in Client functions is marked as No; those settings apply to a desktop installer.

What it does support:

  • the session itself — virtual applications, virtual and remote desktops, app launch, favorites and search in the app viewer;

  • audio and microphone redirection on the client side, and video redirection client-side but disabled by default;

  • managing attached USB devices, network and gateway status, viewing logs and signing out;

  • protocol security, session timeout policies and application launch modes from the connection profile.

Web applications are supported only in turbo mode. Printing options are not available, though HyPrint is — see the footnote on the Printing Options row. Nothing in Device settings applies to it.

Accops Workspace for iOS

This client tracks Android closely, but with narrower media support: neither video nor microphone redirection is available, although audio is supported on the client side. Everything else — app viewer, session removal, protocol security, timeouts and launch modes — matches Android.

HyLite

HyLite runs entirely in a browser. Nothing is installed, so the installation, upgrade, uninstall, system tray and endpoint-management rows are all No, and none of the Device settings apply.

Within the session it covers more ground than its overall score suggests:

  • virtual applications, virtual desktops and remote desktops, with app launch and logout;

  • USB redirection over the network;

  • drive redirection, both Redirect all and Specify drives;

  • the Accops HyPrint printing plugin and third-party RDP plugins;

  • VDI power management — shut down, power off, pause, restart, resume — and expired-password updates;

  • session timeout policies and both RemoteApp and Shell App launch modes.

It has no client-side UI settings, no clipboard or file-transfer plugins, and no display or experience tuning via the connection profile.
